Netflix Rolling Out AV1 Streaming on Select TVs, PlayStation 4 Pro

Netflix has started rolling out the AV1 codec to TVs following Android devices. Since the AV1 takes more time to encode, Netflix will initially encode its popular titles. During playback, Netflix said that it observed a 2 percent reduction in play delay with AV1 streaming.
